Understanding the Band Designate Role
The role of the Band Designate as defined by Child, Youth, and Intervention Act is to:
-
Represent and support Whitefish Lake First Nation children that are currently in the care of the Government of Alberta or other Government Agencies.

Address child protection matters, ensuring children's rights to their culture and community are upheld.
-
Ensuring that Whitefish Lake First Nation children have access to their cultural heritage and community connections within the child welfare system; and
-
Advocate on behalf of all Whitefish Lake First Nation and its members or eligible individuals.
