Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ “Wisdom” Program Urban Youth Outreach Worker (Post Majority)
Atikameg Child & Family Services Society is a Delegated First Nation Child & Family Organization that was
created to promote a healthy and self-sustaining community, utilize a holistic (body, mind, and spirit)
approach in meeting the needs of the children, youth, and families from Whitefish Lake First Nation. The
Atikameg Child & Family Services Society’s main office is in Atikameg, Alberta with a sub-office located in
Edmonton, Alberta.
Reporting to the Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ “Wisdom” Program Team Lead as the direct supervisor; the Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ “Wisdom” Program Urban Youth Outreach Worker supports case management activities within the Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ “Wisdom” Program. The key role for the Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ Program Urban Youth Outreach Worker is to engage in activities that help young people develop important life skills, build confidence, and foster positive relationships. The Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ Program Urban Youth Outreach Worker supports supervisors and case workers through a variety of tasks related to organization and communication.
Requirements
Duties:
Provide case management support to Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ “Wisdom” Program;
Support Youth Access to programming that strengthens life skill development;
Develop professional trusting relationships with the Youth;
Establish connections with external programs that support the goals of each youth within the Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ “Wisdom” Program; and
Participate in team lead discussions and planning to support the operations of the Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ “Wisdom” Program.
The Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ Program Urban Youth Outreach Worker is a key team member and may be asked to carry out additional duties and activities related to the effectiveness and successful implementation of the Iyinisowin ᐃᔨᓂᓱᐃᐧᐣ “Wisdom” Program.
Qualifications:
A post-secondary certificate or diploma in Human Services, Youth Worker, Social Work, and/or applicable certificates and/or 5 years of experience working with Young Adults.
Experience using trauma informed care and harm reduction practices;
Availability to provide services to young adults on weekdays, evenings, and weekends to accommodate the needs of clients; and
An understanding of the dynamics and demographics of First Nation communities.
Additional Requirements:
Current and valid Alberta driver’s license;
Child & Youth Information Module (CYIM) and Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) clearances;
Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree language a strong asset.
Work Location: Hybrid (Atikameg, Alberta and Edmonton, Alberta)
